정부는 5.21(목) 권태신 국무총리실장 주재로 관계부처 차관회의를 개최, 세계적인 확산 추세와 인접국 일본에서의 대규모 지역사회 감염에 따른 신종인플루엔자 확산 방지 대책을 집중 논의했다.

오늘 회의에는 기재부, 외통부, 행안부, 농림부, 복지부, 교과부 등 10개 부처 차관이 참석, 논의된 주요 확산 방지 대책은 환자 유입을 조기에 인지하기 위하여 향후 3주간(5.22~6.11) “집중 감시 체계”를 가동하고 “초기차단”에 역량을 집중 할 계획이라고 밝혔다.
  

또한 환자 유입으로 인한 지역사회내 전파가 확인될 경우 검역과 격리 위주에서 “환자감시 및 조기치료”로 관리방향을 전환 한다는 계획이다.
 

또 WHO에서 경보 단계를 6단계(대유행)로 격상시킬 경우 우리나라의 재난 경보 수준을 현행 2단계(주의, Yellow)에서 3단계(경계, Orange)로 격상하는 방안도 검토중인데 3단계 격상시 중앙안전관리위원회(위원장: 국무총리) 및 중앙재난안전 대책본부(본부장, 행안부장관)를 설치, 가동하게 된다.

한편 이날 회의에서 권태신 국무총리실장은 "미국과 일본 등의 사례에서 알 수 있듯이 학교와 부대 등 단체생활 기관이 대규모 감염의 진원지가 되기 쉬우므로, 단체생활 기관에서는 예방 교육 및 홍보를 계속하고, 학교는 학생의 건강상태를 면밀히 관찰하고 감기 증세로 인해 결석, 조퇴 시 즉시 보건소등 의료기관에 연락하여 검진을 받도록 하는 등 신종인플루엔자의 조기발견 및 확산 차단 활동을 강화해야 할 것."

 

또 "비상방역체계의 장기간 가동에 따라 검역인력의 피로도 증가와 투입 가능한 인력 부족 등의 문제에 대비하기 위하여, 복지부를 비롯한 관련 부처는 공항, 항만 등의 검역을 포함한 효율적인 방역체계 등을 검토하고, 감염 확산시 방역활동에 필요한 격리시설, 장비, 약품등을 면밀히 점검할 것" 등을 당부했다.
